Selection to Team GB
Selection to Team GB in Athletics, Swimming and Table Tennis is managed by the relevant UKSA Sports Selection Committee. Selection is based on a number of factors and for athletes is performance led, but not the only criterion that is considered. A written selection policy is published before Championship events and athletes will be required to submit performances to the Selection Committee through their Home Country Association.
Only athletes that are part of their Home Country Association pathway are eligible to be considered for Team GB. This means any athlete who is interested in a career in sport and wishes to represent Great Britain will first have to meet the standards set by their own Home Country Squad. An athlete should be training regularly at a level expected of a performance athlete; be attending training sessions set by their Home Country, consistently performing at a high level and be able to meet the increased demands and pressures of selection to Team GB. Additionally, only athletes that have a valid INAS-FID Registration number can be considered.
Staff selection to Team GB is based on qualifications and experience, the minimum requirements for which will be published in the event Selection Policy. All staff must be part of their Home Country Association structures to be eligible for consideration. Staff positions on Team GB are without remuneration and will be advertised through each of the four Home Country Associations. Applications to UKSA are by way of full, formal business style CV detailing all relevant qualifications and experience, CRB status and accompanied by a covering letter from the applicant, a passport size photo and endorsement from their Home Country Association office.
All staff are expected to have an up to date CRB disclosure before being invited to Team GB. To see the full protection policy requirements see Policies and Procedures in "About Us".
In Tennis, Football and Cricket, selection is carried out by the relevant Sports Governing Body. UKSA works with the Sports Governing Body and advises and supports Team GB in these sports to INAS-FID competition.
