Committees
There are currently 5 sub committees of the Board. These are separate Selection Committees in Swimming, Athletics and Table Tennis; a National Eligibility Committee and a UK Classification Committee.
All Committees regularly report back to the UKSA Board of Directors and advise the Board on their specific area of expertise.
Sports Selection Committees (SSC)
Swimming, Athletics and Table Tennis
Each SSC is responsible for setting the selection and performance standards for athletes to be considered for Team GB. The members also carry out selection, advise on technical issues and guide the overall direction of UKSA in its role in sport for people with learning disability in the UK. The Committees are chaired by the National Director.
National Eligibility Committee (NEC)
The NEC is responsible for determining whether an INAS-FID athlete registration application meets the criteria for classification as an athlete with learning disability under international rules. The group endorses every application from a British athlete seeking classification before it can go to INAS-FID for their consideration. Membership of the NEC is restricted to those with specific expertise in learning disability and Chartered Psychologists. All members of the NEC must be registered with the international governing body, INAS-FID. The Committee is chaired by the UK Eligibility Officer.
UK Classification Committee (UKCC)
The UKCC is responsible for the classification of athletes with learning disability in the UK who are not yet at international level. Members are invited by UKSA on the basis of their professional experience and expertise. The group includes Chartered Psychologists; Head Teacher and those with extensive experience in learning disability. The Committee is chaired by the UK Eligibility Officer.
